Steelers LB Ryan Shazier walks out on stage, provides moment of the night at NFL Draft

Back in December, Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier underwent spinal stabilization surgery after an injury sustained in a Week 13 collision against the Bengals.

Some thought he might never walk again.

On Thursday night, Shazier provided the moment of the night at the NFL Draft by walking out on to the AT&T Stadium stage in Dallas to announce his team’s first-round pick (28th overall), safety Terrell Edmunds.

Afterward, Shazier took to Twitter to share his thoughts and thank everyone who has supported him over these past few months.

“Love you all thank you. God IS SO GREAT!!!” – Ryan Shazier

Arm in arm with his fiancée, Michelle Rodriguez, Shazier was introduced by Roger Goodell and made the walk from the corridor to the stage. After making the announcement, many in the crowd, especially Steelers fans were emotionally stunned to see Shazier walking. Even Hall of Fame safety Deion Sanders, doing work for NFL Network, was overcome with emotion.

“That just tore me apart guys,” Sanders said on the telecast. “I apologize. I’m trying to be professional but that got me. Pray for that gentleman.”

Many in the sports community took to Twitter to show Shazier their support.

Join us in continuing to pray for Shazier to fully recover from his injury.
