New England Patriots' Devin McCourty rides along with Boston Police officer

Patriots safety Devin McCourty has spent his entire eight-year career in New England. The 30-year-old knows the community well.

So naturally, he’d like to ensure the safety of that community. To that end, McCourty went on a ride-along with a Boston Police Department officer “to better understand and appreciate just how hard the men and women of #BPD work to keep our city safe.”

In addition to being a leader in his community, McCourty is a follower of Jesus Christ. He made the decision to recommit his life to Christ after going to a team Bible study led by the Patriots’ team chaplain. Before that time, McCourty didn’t consider himself to be bad person, but he knew some things needed to change.

“He’s talking about that guilty feeling, there’s nothing we can do to earn the right to be Christians and earn what Christ has done for us — like you can’t earn that. That’s given to you. That’s His mercy. And it just happened to be the day I walked in there and went. It was everything I was feeling that I was lacking, and I was like, ‘It’s right there,’” McCourty told CBN.
