“I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” — John 10:9-10
Staying Positive
Recently, I found myself getting sucked into some posts and comments on social media that were strongly opinionated and inherently negative. I felt like I had been slimed.
We all usually have strong opinions on certain topics in life and there can be some electric emotions involved. It’s really easy to fall prey to the negativity and be led by our emotions. There is nothing wrong with having strong convictions, but the problem lies in allowing our emotions associated with our convictions to master us.
The enemy can use our emotions against us. His goal is to steal and kill and destroy. Staying positive in a negative world seems to always be a battle, but Jesus came so that we may have life and have it abundantly — not to be bogged down in negativity.
I read a blog recently that suggested three things we can do to stay positive are stop, drop and roll. Stop — Recognize and stop when you are getting sucked into negativity. Drop — Drop the negative thoughts and focus on the positive; think of whatever is lovely, praiseworthy, etc. Roll — Roll those negative thoughts, worries and cares right off of you and onto Jesus.
Remember, He came to take all that and give us abundant life in exchange.
