This year, more than anything, I hope we are able to bring the brothers together on this team. We have a really good chaplain and a band of brothers that is very strong, and we aim to grow with each other in our faith in Christ, as well as reach our teammates for the Gospel. We have weekly Bible studies, weekly chapels taught by chaplains, a study for the wives and girlfriends, as well as a couples’ Bible study.
Going through the book of Colossians as a team has been a really rich experience. We are able to bring up good touch points, pray for each other and spend time with each other in fellowship outside of the football field. It’s great to hang out in meetings or practices, but when you are able to go deeper, you find yourselves on a whole new level.
And Jesus tells us in Matthew 18:20, “Where two or three gather in My name, there am I with them.” And in Psalm 113:1 we read, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”
When you gather with other men to study the Word of God, we’re not just taking in information, we’re learning to become better men, better fathers, better husbands and better pastors of our families. We have a good thing going.
We recently talked about discipleship. We went back to look at creation, the fall, redemption and restoration. These four points were not just seen in the Bible, but they are seen in our walk with Christ daily. And learning how to share the Gospel with those we come in contact with is critically important as we live out the Great Commission.
What are you doing to grow closer to Christ and deeper in your fellowship with other believers?
