Had I played for the Miami Heat in the early 2000s, I would have always trusted Shaq with the ball in the post. I’d know he could move around his defenders and score. But I don’t think I would trust him at the point guard position — handling the ball against pressure defense. I know what Shaq could do in the post, so I know I could trust him in that area.

In every area of our lives, we hear it said, “Trust in God.” In fact, Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” However, it is hard to trust in God if we do not know what He can do. One way to discover that is by reading the Bible and seeing how God took care of His people. Read how He protected Joseph for His purposes (Genesis 37, 39-41). Read about Paul and the special things God did for him as he ministered (much of the Book of Acts, including Acts 22, 16).

Reading God’s Word gives us confidence in God. When you know what God can and will do for you, trust and faith become simple, and blessings are soon to follow.
