Rich Maloney is the baseball head coach at Ball State University. In 2023, he led his team to a Mid-American Conference championship and reached the NCAA Regionals.
Maloney began his head coaching career at Ball State from 1996-2001, then led the Michigan Wolverines from 2003-2012. In 2013, he returned to Ball State, where he remains today. He is a four-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year and has 954 career wins as a head coach.
As a player, Maloney was selected in the 13th round of the 1986 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves and played six seasons in the Braves organization before retiring after reaching Double-A in 1991. He played collegiately at Western Michigan.
