“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.” — Psalm 139:7-8

The MLB trading deadline is upon us. Each year, teams scramble to try and upgrade their roster by wheeling and dealing before the July 31st deadline.

Trades are incredibly common in professional sports, but we rarely talk about how much of an impact they have. Players have to adjust to new teammates and coaches, a new system, and maybe even a new role. If they have a family and kids, the move becomes more complicated. Their children say goodbye to friends and start the process of making new ones when they change schools. A trade involves much more than simply switching teams.

We all have times of transition in our lives. Jobs change, children are born, a divorce happens — the list goes on and on. Whatever stage of life we might be in, God is still the same loving Father He has always been and will forever be. He doesn’t change based on where we are or the mistakes we make. In a world full of change and movement, God is the one constant we can depend on.

No matter what comes our way, we know that our lives are built on a rock-solid foundation in Christ. He will be there for us every step of the way. When we pray, we don’t get God’s answering machine. As we go through the craziness of life, it’s important to stay grounded in Christ and continue to lean on Him. He’s the only rock that can withstand any storm.
