THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
Sam Marsonek is a former pro baseball player who was selected in the first round, 24th overall in the 1996 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers. In 1999, he was traded to the New York Yankees organization, where he was an International League All-Star at the Triple-A level in 2003 and 2004.
Marsonek’s baseball journey culminated with a call to the big leagues on July 11, 2004, as he made his MLB debut against the Tampa Bay Rays, pitching 1.1 innings, giving up two hits and no runs. This was the only MLB game Marsonek ever pitched in.
Today, Marsonek is in full-time ministry with Baseball Country, a ministry devoted to using the game of baseball to help mold young players into better men and followers of Christ.
On today’s podcast, Marsonek shares the story of his one and only MLB appearance, how baseball became his god, how a trip to the Dominican Republic led him to Jesus, and how he’s now using baseball as a tool to minister the Gospel.
