SS PODCAST: Nationals outfielder Alex Call on following God's plan for his baseball journey

THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
WITH JASON ROMANO, FEATURING ALEX CALL

Alex Call is an outfielder with the Washington Nationals. He was selected in the third round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox, then traded to Cleveland in 2018, and after six years in the minor leagues he made his MLB debut with the Guardians on July 11, 2022.

Less than a month later he was placed on waivers, and picked up by the Nationals on Aug. 7. He appeared in 47 major league games in 2022, and has already played in more than 75 in 2023.

In college, Call was a star at Ball State University, winning the 2016 MAC Player of the Year award and becoming a Louisville Slugger first-team All-American.

Today on the podcast, we talk to Alex Call about his baseball journey, his desire to follow God’s plan, growing in his faith, fighting against performance-based approval, and the experience he had in the Dominican Republic with Compassion International late in 2022.
