College Football Game of the Week: Michigan State vs Michigan

The Michigan-Michigan State rivalry has had many classics. T.J. Duckett’s catch in the end zone as time expired. Braylon Edwards’ go-ahead TD in the third overtime. And, this Spartans miracle in 2015….

So as the battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy will be under the lights for the first time for the 110th meeting. Will the Wolverines prevail at Michigan Stadium or will the Spartans once again shock the Ann Arbor faithful? Our picks below…

Jason Romano: Michigan 45 – Michigan State 17 – Though the rivalry is a great one, I expect the Wolverines to blow out the Spartans at home. They’re a much better team and are coming off a bye week.

UPSET: Utah 27 – Stanford 24 — Utah is unbeaten and at home and a 5.5 point underdog to Stanford. I’m taking the Utes to not only cover but win the game outright.

Justin Adams: Michigan 31 – Michigan State 20 – Believe it or not, this series has been won largely by Michigan State. Sparty will walk into Ann Arbor looking for it’s eighth win in the last 10 games against Michigan. But, things will be different as Michigan QB John O’Korn will find Grant Perry and Tarik Black for scores. Oh yeah, and the Wolverines defense is pretty good too.

UPSET: Kansas State 34 – Texas 31 – Kansas State’s offense is close to the lower half in FBS. So why am I picking them in the upset in Austin? The defense which ranks 21st in the nation. I’m taking the Wildcats in a Big 12 upset that will be under the national radar.

Jon Ackerman: Michigan 28 – Michigan State 17 – Michigan’s home-field advantage is always key, but even more so for an in-state rivalry. The Wolverines’ defense is just too stout for a mediocre Spartan offense to overcome.

UPSET: Nebraska 38 – Wisconsin 35 – Wisconsin has yet to really get tested, and Nebraska needs a big win to get its season on the right track. The Cornhuskers pull off the upset at home.
