Current Chicago Bears quarterback Nick Foles and former NFL safety and special teamer Chris Maragos joined Sports Spectrum in a Facebook and YouTube live video Thursday to discuss their new podcast: “The Mission of Truth: Keeping it real with Nick and Chris.”
The podcast debuted Friday morning with its first two episodes.

Former Philadelphia Eagles teammates in 2014 and 2017, Foles and Maragos came together to develop “The Mission of Truth” podcast when God placed it on both of their hearts to use their platform to make an impact. The podcast is a nonprofit endeavor.
“God has allowed us to have a platform,” Foles said, adding, “This was an opportunity to be bold and start something like ‘The Mission of Truth’ podcast with my brother Chris to where we can share different life experiences we’ve gone through, talk about the real stuff, but then also show people there is hope. There is light. There is a way to get through them.”
Our hope is that people are positively impacted through the “Mission of Truth” Podcast. Officially live this morning. Hope y’all check it out and share your thoughts with us. @MofT_Podcast @ChrisMaragos

Foles was the 2017 Super Bowl MVP and Maragos has two Super Bowl titles to his name, but the two friends said they will often tackle difficult topics on the podcast, like Foles’ wife’s miscarriage and career-altering injuries.
Foles broke his collarbone in Week 1 last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and missed extended playing time, while Maragos has endured three major operations on his injured knee since 2017. Last July, he announced his retirement from the NFL after nine seasons.
“This process has been very difficult and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody,” Maragos said, “but the fruit that has come out of it and the things I’ve learned from the depths of who I am, I’m appreciative of that for sure.”

Foles said more listeners could relate to the raw stories of life’s trials.
“The Lombardi Trophy was a platform that God allowed us to have, and our sufferings and trials are places we can meet every single person on the earth and we can talk about that,” Foles said. “But then the most important thing is, ‘Where does our hope lie?’ And that’s ultimately in Jesus Christ.”
“The Mission of Truth” will soon welcome guests that Foles and Maragos have met throughout the years. And although Foles is preparing for his ninth NFL season with the Bears, he and Maragos said they plan to continue recording episodes into the fall.
“No matter where you are, you have a platform. No matter where you are, you have influence. No matter where you are, you have the ability to make a huge impact,” Maragos said. “The more I realize that and the more I allow Jesus to work in my heart and allow me to really submit to Him, then I realize that the impact and platform is even greater.”
