THIS IS EPISODE 527 OF THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
Thomas Morstead is the punter for the New Orleans Saints. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by New Orleans out of Southern Methodist University, and has spent his entire 11-year career with the Saints.
In his rookie year of 2009, Morstead won a Super Bowl in helping the Saints to the title against the Indianapolis Colts. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2012, and has been the Saints’ special-teams captain since 2014.
In June 2020, Morstead released his new book, “The Middle School Rules of Thomas Morstead,” with author Sean Jensen.
On this episode of the podcast, we talk to Morstead about writing his first book, what he was like as a middle schooler, how his faith became an important part of his life, how a trip to England changed his football career, and the greatest challenge as an NFL player.
