THIS IS THE TABLE FORTY PODCAST
WITH MATT AND LESLEE HOLLIDAY
Mike Shildt is the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, a role he’s been in since July 2018 when he took over for Mike Matheny. He was named National League Manager of the Year in 2019 after helping lead the Cardinals to the NL Central title, and he has led St. Louis to the postseason in both of his full seasons as manager.
Shildt has been in baseball his whole career, including time spent as the manager of the Memphis Redbirds and as an assistant coach at a number of other minor league organizations. He also served as an assistant coach at the University of Charlotte and had a successful head coaching career at West Charlotte High School.
He and his wife, Michelle, got married in March 2020, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the baseball season.
Mike and Michelle joined the “Table Forty” podcast this week to talk about being newly married during the pandemic, how the team responded when the season was put on hold, their faith and how their marriage is built on it, and parenting. Shildt also talked about how his faith impacts him as a baseball manager and how never dreamed his career would take him all the way to being an MLB manager.
Table Forty is part of the Sports Spectrum Podcast Network.
