Jets QB Josh McCown shares encouraging Father's Day message on Twitter

On Sunday, Father’s Day, Jets quarterback Josh McCown was out shopping for groceries and had one of those experiences that moved him to the point of sharing about it on social media.

McCown shared a powerful story of a young man with special needs working as a bagger at a local grocery store. As he continued to bag, his father was there watching him and cheering him on.

For McCown, it was a reminder of what being a dad was truly about. It was a reminder to love our kids and cheer them on. It was a reminder of sacrificial love.

It was a reminder of our Heavenly Father, the One who loves us, the One who cheers us on and the One who sent his son to die for us.

“This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” — 1 John 4:9-11
