UFC fighter Dan Ige gives glory to God after victory over Edson Barboza

Dan Ige took to Instagram to share his thoughts a day after his split-decision victory over Edson Barboza at UFC’s Fight Night on Saturday. Ige, 28, credited the 34-year-old Barboza with being one of his most feared UFC fighters in recent memory, and he made sure to give God the glory.

“If you had asked me 5 years ago who’s the scariest opponent you could ever find yourself standing across I would have told you Edson for sure,” Ige’s post said. “Yesterday I woke up and I felt the same and I was able to conquer my fears and get another W. I love this game. All Glory to the most high God.”

Ige calls himself a believer on his Instagram and Twitter pages.

Ige’s wife, Savannah, also thanked God on social media after Saturday’s fight. “Thank you Jesus!! My husband is a warrior,” she wrote. “Love this man of God so much!!”

Ige’s win came in the featherweight division and was his sixth consecutive UFC victory, which gives him a career record of 14-2 in Mixed Martial Arts. Ige is in the midst of a breakthrough of sorts in the UFC world — he hasn’t lost since his UFC debut in January 2018.

“I did my best to go in there and grind and push as hard as I can even in the third round,” Ige said in the octagon after the bout. “First, thank you to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He gave me strength in that third round to push.”
