A story came out at the start of the 2015-16 NBA season that the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors wanted to win 72 games this year, as Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls had done in the 1995-96 season.
Though Stephen Curry and the Warriors had just won an NBA title, there was a feeling when I read the story that they were only beginning—they had merely scratched the surface of winning. The Warriors were not done just because they had reached the pinnacle.
The end of the verse above might be my favorite line in the entire chapter: Paul and Barnabas “urged them to continue in the grace of God.” The message of Jesus Christ had struck the Jews in the synagogue deeply, and Paul and Barnabas urged them to simply continue diving into this mysterious grace.
The spiritual journey does not end at baptism or after praying a prayer or upon converting—rather, continuing in the grace of God is something we can do forever. What a freeing idea!
May we take the advice of Paul and Barnabas and continue in the grace of God today, exploring the infinite colors of his love.
