“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” I Corinthians 13:6
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton made headlines in Week 9 of the 2015-16 NFL season for tearing down a Green Bay Packers banner in Bank of America Stadium, home of the Panthers. When asked about it by the media, Newton basically said that it didn’t seem right to have a Packers banner hanging at their home field. So he ripped it down.
Sometimes, the enemy—whether it is Satan or this world or the lies we tell ourselves—will attempt to hang banners on your soul to distract you and discourage you from resting in your truest self. May we boldly rip those banners down and shred them into pieces, time and time again, so that we can live more and more out of a place of rest and hope and peace in Christ. May we protect our inner self and rest in the One who knows us better than ourselves. May we protect our home.
