Where there’s unity among men, God commands a blessing.
The unity among our team is palpable — you can feel it both in the locker room and on the field. There is a brotherhood on the Jets that truly feels like we’re part of a big family. It’s been really exciting to recognize the differences of this team from the time I left until now. I have seen men step up as vocal leaders, influencers, and encouragers. These men have set a high standard for character, accountability and hard work among our guys. There are great things in store for our team this year and I’m so glad to be a part of it!
Our motto this year is “One Team, One Goal.” We’re united in our mental game, our physical performance, and our desire for greatness. Everyone is all in — fully committed to the idea that we can do some pretty incredible things when we all work together. Though we’ve been fighting against doubting fans and negative predictions leading into the season, these have created a strong sense of motivation within us to prove people wrong. People may have pushed us into a corner in their minds, but their comments and predictions have only pushed us further towards greatness.
Sometimes you can be doing all the right things and things still don’t turn out the way you had hoped. But you have to keep swinging the ax. With humility, perseverance, and optimism, we can become extremely successful. God’s hand is at work in all of our lives; He’s in control of our season and I believe He’s setting us up for something great to be used for His glory.
My confidence is in Him alone. I experienced a great lesson in humility last season with the Browns during which I realized that God is the only one who could carry me through. I couldn’t do it on my own. The same is true no matter what team I’m on or what my success turns out to be. I know God is holding all things in His hands and I’m excited to go along for the ride. As I trust in His will for this season, I know I’ll be able to draw closer to Him and discover more about His sovereign plan.
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” —1 Corinthians 15:58
