Eagles QB Carson Wentz is No. 3 player in NFL's 'Top 100' rankings

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was voted the third-best player in the NFL, according to the NFL Top 100 Players of 2018 list as voted on by the players themselves.

In 2017, Wentz had one of the greatest seasons in Philadelphia Eagles history. In just 13 games, he threw for 3,296 yards with 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions, leading his team to the NFC East title.

The Eagles, of course, went on to win their first Super Bowl title with Wentz watching from the sidelines after suffering a season-ending knee injury.

In an interview with Sports Spectrum’s Football Sunday 2018, Wentz explained his immediate reaction after going down with the injured knee.

“I just remember saying, ‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,’ over and over, like ‘I need you, I need you,'” Wentz said. “Trainers were looking at it, doing their test and I honestly wasn’t even paying attention to their tests, I was just laying back, ‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.’ He’s the only one that can make it better. He’s the only one that provides me peace and at the same time, it’s Your will, because I knew I needed Him emotionally, physically, kind of everything in that moment.”

Wentz knew the injury and being lost for the season was disappointing, but it paled in comparison to what Jesus did on the cross for us.

“To know all the pain I’m going through and to think of what Jesus went through for me, it made me recognize a deeper level of love than I think I ever really have felt in a long time,” Wentz told Sports Spectrum. “It’s always easy to say, ‘He’s in control of everything,’ but the more I recognize that I need Him — literally every moment of every situation, when I can’t even walk or do things — the more I realize He’s got everything in the palm of His hands.”

Wentz participated in Eagles mini-camp earlier this month, and the belief is that he’ll be back and healthy to start Week 1 of the 2018 season on Thursday, Sept. 6 against the Atlanta Falcons.
