“The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.” Proverbs 15:29
In a devotional on June 13 I wrote about the power of prayer and the importance of prayer. I asked those reading the devotional to pray for me and for Sports Spectrum. We really needed it that day.
I had actually written the devotional about five months earlier. What amazed me was all of the things that happened for it to be placed on that particular day. Managing Editor Brett Honeycutt had placed the devotional on June 13 way back in February just before we went to print. On June 10, a few days before most of you read the devotional, a meeting was scheduled that was going to be a tough meeting. On June 13, I was out of town for this meeting, picked up my Blackberry around 5:45 a.m., and began to see e-mail from many people saying they were praying for me.
I had forgotten that I had written the devotional and that it was placed on that day. The prayers were so timely. Only God knew five months earlier I would need all that prayer on June 13. I want to say thank you to all those who sent an e-mail and prayed. The power of prayer is real. The meeting went better than expected, only because of your prayers. I had no anxiety going into the meeting because your prayers gave me the confidence that only God can supply. You are a blessing. Thank you. I know God hears prayers and acts on our behalf.
So if someone asks you to pray, as you did for me, please take it very seriously and humbly cry out to God on behalf of others. God is bigger than we can ever imagine.
