SS PODCAST: Avalanche defenseman Josh Manson on celebrating titles, processing grief

THIS IS THE SPORTS SPECTRUM PODCAST
WITH JASON ROMANO, FEATURING JOSH MANSON

Josh Manson is a defenseman with the Colorado Avalanche. He’s been a key contributor since joining Colorado via trade in March 2022, and helped the Avs win the Stanley Cup later that season. He scored a goal in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and also set up the eventual Cup-winning goal in Game 6. In July 2022, Manson agreed to a four-year contract to return to Colorado.

Originally selected in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Draft by the Anaheim Ducks, Manson made his NHL debut in 2014. He played more than seven seasons with the Ducks before getting dealt to Colorado. In college at Northeastern (in Boston), Manson was awarded the Hockey East Conference’s Best Defensive Defenseman award in 2013-14, and also named to the 2013-14 Hockey East Second All-Star Team.

Josh’s father, Dave Manson, was a first-round NHL pick in 1985 and played in the league from 1986-2002.

Today on the podcast, we talk to Josh Manson about his day spent with the Stanley Cup, his faith, overcoming injuries, processing grief, and reflecting on 10 years in the NHL.
