Jordin Sparks shares Biblical message during singing of national anthem

The world’s attention this past weekend was directed toward the national anthem following comments by President Donald Trump directed toward the NFL and demonstrations.

On Monday Night, all eyes were on ESPN and 2007 American Idol winner Jordin Sparks as she sang the national anthem before the start of the Cowboys-Cardinals contest. Sparks, a Christian, recognized the platform she had been given, and took it upon herself to send a message through Scripture by displaying Proverbs 31:8-9 on her left hand.

“Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” – Proverbs 31:8-9

The game began with both teams arm-in-arm during the national anthem, and ended with the Cowboys beating the Cardinals 28-17. But it was Sparks’ message of standing up for those who can’t stand up themselves, that may have been the most memorable moment of the evening.
